After working for many years as a graphic and commercial artist, Jim has worked the
last two decades as a fine artist. His subject matter is the land and the life of the
The landscape, the people and wildlife provide him with the inspiration necessary to
produce award winning paintings. His work has been shown in shows such as ‘Arts
for the Parks’, Oil Painters of America and the Colorado Governor’s invitational. It
is in both private and corporate collections in the US and Canada.
Whether working in his studio or outdoors ‘en plein air’, Jim seeks to capture the
spirit or essence of the subject. Color, composition, texture, drawing, and technique
all factor into the creation of his paintings and the primary goal is to create natural,
harmonious and rhythmic works. While he is primarily self-studied, he is grateful to
the many artists who over the years have provided guidance and examples to help him
improve his skills.
